The Rolwaling Trek is one of Nepal’s hidden gems, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas and a culturally rich trekking experience. Located in the northeastern region of Nepal, this remote valley stretches toward the Tibetan border, northeast of the Kathmandu–Kodari–Lhasa highway.
One of the highlights of the trek is the majestic Mt. Gaurishankar (7,145m), which lies on the Nepal-Tibet border, along with Mt. Melungtse I (7,181m) and Melungtse II (7,023m) situated in Tibet. The region is also home to the stunning Tsho Rolpa, a pristine glacial lake nestled amidst the high mountains.
Trekkers are drawn not only by the region’s natural beauty but also by the unique lifestyle and culture of the Beding and Na villages, the latter being a traditional summer grazing settlement.
For those seeking a more adventurous path, the trek can be extended to Khumbu via the Tesi Laptsa Pass—a challenging and technical route that only a few experienced trekkers attempt due to its difficulty.
