The Arun Valley offers superb views of both Mt. Everest and Makalu. It is located between the Sagarmatha and Makalu-Barun National Parks. Trekking in this valley provides an alternative approach to the Khumbu region, and we highly recommend it for those who have already visited the Everest region and wish to return to Everest Base Camp (Kala Pattar) via a less-traveled route.
This trek requires good stamina and fitness to fully appreciate the beauty of the region, which offers some of the most outstanding mountain views in Nepal. The journey begins with a scenic flight to Tumlingtar, located to the east of Everest. The first week is spent trekking through remote and untouched terrain into the Solu Khumbu region. From there, the trail joins the main Everest route, continuing to Kala Pattar for breathtaking close-up views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and several other towering peaks. The adventure concludes with a return trek to Lukla, followed by a flight back to Kathmandu.
