Everest Base Camp & Kala Pathar via Gokyo

Itinerary

Take an early morning scenic flight to Lukla (30 minutes), the gateway to the Everest region. Begin your trek with a gentle descent to Phakding, passing through traditional Sherpa villages and crossing suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River.
Today, the trail gradually climbs through forests of pine and rhododendron, crossing several suspension bridges. A final steep ascent brings you to the bustling Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar, the heart of the Khumbu region.
A rest day for acclimatization. You can explore the local markets, visit the Sherpa Museum, or take a short hike to the Everest View Hotel for stunning panoramas of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam.
Climb steeply out of Namche and pass through beautiful rhododendron and juniper forests. The trail offers magnificent views of Khumbila and other Himalayan peaks. Arrive at the highland village of Dole.
Continue along the Dudh Koshi valley through small settlements. The trail is relatively gentle today, leading to the picturesque village of Machchhermo. The area is known for its dramatic mountain scenery.

Today’s trail offers a relatively easy walk with excellent views of Ama Dablam and Nuptse. Reach Lobuche, a small settlement close to the Khumbu Glacier.
Follow the rugged path along the Khumbu Glacier to Gorak Shep. This is your base for the final ascents to Kala Patthar and Everest Base Camp.
